Welcome to my home page. My home is in Ashland, Oregon, site of the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

We are only a couple hours from some of the most beautiful national parks, including Crater Lake.

I work in the computer networking field. (You can learn more about the services I offer here.)

In 2007, my husband and I formed a non-profit foundation for scientific research and education. I also enjoy encouraging women and am interested in the special challenges that women face in computer fields.

I enjoy hiking, going to plays and movies, drawing, writing, tweeting, reading literary fiction and technical books, stoking my love/hate relationship with my Mac, and listening to my iPod. My favorite types of music are blues, rock and roll, and of course, The Priscillas!

I also like to make web pages with lots of silly photos!

My family includes my husband, Alan, who is president of Open Door Networks, and numerous siblings. I have many relatives (and friends) who were named after St. Stephen. On my Dad's side, I am descended from John Worland who came to America from England in the early 1600s. On my Mother's side, I am descended from the Pilgrims who came to America on the Mayflower in 1620.

My favorite quote:

Said by Baby Suggs to the Sethe character in Toni Morrison's novel, "Beloved."

Lay em down, Sethe. Sword and shield.
Down. Down. Both of em down. Down by the riverside.
Sword and shield.
Don't study war no more.
Lay all that mess down.
Sword and shield.
