Lab 1 Computer Hardware Discovery

Objectives

• Learn about computer components
• Get to know other students in the class
• Develop crime-scene sketching skills
• Have fun!

Steps

1. Team up with one or two other students. We will try to spread out the computer science students and other computer gurus.
2. Take the cover off a computer.
3. Sketch and label each major component that you notice: motherboard, power supply, CPU, any cards, etc.

Grading

1. Each student should hand in a sketch.
2. Be sure to put your name on your sketch.
3. You will not be graded on your artistic abilities. Ugly drawings are fine!
4. You will be graded on correctness and completeness of your labeling. So be sure to label each important component.
